This course is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of accounting concepts and principles, including the key elements of accounting theory. Through this module, students will explore various accounting concepts, such as assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, and expenses, and how they are recorded and reported in financial statements. Additionally, students will learn about the principles of financial accounting, including the accounting equation and double-entry accounting.

In addition to these foundational concepts, this module also covers the accounting theories underpinning the field. Students will learn about the key elements of accounting theory, including the agency, stakeholder, and positive accounting theories, and how these theories shape how accounting is practised. Furthermore, students will be introduced to financial statement fraud, including its various types, and how it can be prevented and detected in modern accounting practice.
