It is an opportunity to develop expertise in solving problems and dealing with issues that arise in International Business Activities where International Business Strategy meets Political, Legal and Ethical demands.

About the Special Executive Masters Programme

The MSBM Special Executive Masters Programme is a short certificate programme designed for anyone who would benefit from more in-depth business knowledge delivered in a short and intensive programme. This programme is suitable for successful professionals or specialists in the private, public or non-profit sectors with new management responsibilities and the need to expand their knowledge quickly.

The (SEMP) programme serves as a refresher course for those who had their Masters's a long time ago and need a quick reminder or as an academic update. At the same time, it also serves as a crash programme for those very experienced professionals who never made time out for their master's yet require the academic and practical relevance of this masters’ experience. It is a good programme for newly promoted individuals to the managerial post. The programme enables them to acclimate to the new position and helps them make the right decisions.

Objectives

The objective of this course is to enable students to answer some crucial questions regarding international business and commerce, which include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • What is the applicable law for the transaction?
  • What are the responsibilities and liabilities of the parties involved?
  • Who arranges the carriage contract, and who is in charge of transporting the goods from one point to another?
  • How does the buyer pay the seller?
  • What happens in the event that something goes wrong?

During the course, the delegates will see evidence to suggest that there is no such thing as the "uniform law of contract" that governs an entire commercial contract from start to finish.

Therefore, the students will consider "International Business Law" as a fragmented network of laws, with different laws governing each part of the transaction. Having this fundamental understanding will allow students to start grasping this complex subject matter more easily.

At the end of the course, the goal is for the students to demonstrate a basic level of competence and knowledge for international business and commercial law matters.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for those with little or no formal training in International Business Law yet would be required to understand the fundamentals of International Business Law as it may directly impact their work.

It will particularly benefit:

  • Directors and executives who have direct responsibility for legal decisions within the Organization.
  • In-house counsel
  • Those working within a legal department will also find this course highly beneficial.
  • Managing Directors or CEOs

Modules

Our aim will NOT be to cram as much information as possible, but to select the essential concepts, go over them in some depth, and instil sufficient knowledge for the students to apply these concepts practically. While the students may not become absolute experts of IBL at the end of this course, they will possess enough foundational understanding of the subject matter, which will equip them to build further atop this foundation on their own.

This module provides the most critical information about the study course and assignment submission.
