Diploma In Cyber Security (Level 5)
Diploma in Cyber Security Level 5 - 12 Months - 120 Credits
This Level 5 diploma provides a comprehensive understanding of cyber security concepts, techniques, and tools essential for protecting digital infrastructure. Learners will explore real-world threats and develop skills to identify, test, and defend against cyber-attacks. The programme blends theoretical principles with hands-on practice in areas like ethical hacking, malware analysis, and digital forensics. It prepares students for roles in both public and private sectors that demand critical cyber resilience. Emphasis is placed on analytical thinking, investigative skills, and emerging technologies such as AI in cybersecurity.
Course Details
The diploma consists of six modules that cover technical and strategic aspects of cyber security. Learners will gain knowledge of ethical hacking, forensic investigation, database security, and malware behavior. Each module is designed to enhance problem-solving abilities and practical decision-making in cyber threat environments. Assessment is through assignments, practical labs, and real-life case studies.
This diploma focuses on developing practical cyber defense and investigation skills essential for securing systems and networks. It is ideal for those seeking roles in cyber operations, forensic analysis, or ethical hacking.
Upon the completion of the diploma, the student will be able to learn the following:
- Apply a range of security testing tools and methodologies to identify and assess vulnerabilities in systems, applications, and networks.
- Evaluate the use of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, including its application in threat detection, behavior analysis, and automated responses.
- Design and implement secure database structures while addressing risks such as SQL injection, unauthorized access, and data integrity breaches.
- Conduct digital forensic investigations by collecting, preserving, and analyzing digital evidence in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Perform ethical hacking procedures to simulate cyber-attacks, assess organizational security, and propose mitigation strategies within legal frameworks.
- Analyze and interpret malware using both static and dynamic analysis techniques to determine origin, behavior, and impact on infected systems.
- Demonstrate critical problem-solving skills in identifying, mitigating, and reporting various cyber threats across digital environments.
- Integrate knowledge from multiple domains to develop effective cybersecurity strategies aligned with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

* Relevant/Local Board of Examination Result in your Country, which must include at least 5 'C' Grades in English and 4 other subjects.
* Mock Examination Result can also be accepted for initial Conditional Admission, pending the release of the Board of Examination Result. (This is assessed on a case by case basis)
* Learner must be 18 years or older at the start of the Course.
OR
* Mature Learners (21 years or older) with work experience in supervisory, leadership or management roles. (This is assessed on a case by case basis).
Course Modules
This module provides the most critical information about the study course and assignment submission.
This module explores how AI technologies are used in both cyber defense and attack scenarios. Learners study the application of machine learning in anomaly detection, threat prediction, and automated response systems. The module also covers ethical considerations and future trends in AI-driven cyber security. Students will critically evaluate the impact of AI tools on digital protection strategies.
Students examine database systems with a focus on security, integrity, and access control. Topics include SQL injection, encryption, user authentication, and regulatory compliance. Learners will design and evaluate secure database structures, gaining the ability to identify and prevent database-specific cyber threats. Real-world case examples are used to support application of theory to practice.
This module introduces the tools and techniques used in investigating cybercrimes and recovering digital evidence. Learners will understand forensic methodologies, data acquisition, chain of custody, and evidence reporting. By completing simulated investigations, students will develop practical skills in analyzing digital trails and supporting legal processes. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, objectivity, and professional ethics.
Students learn to ethically simulate cyber-attacks in order to test organizational defenses. The module includes network scanning, social engineering, vulnerability exploitation, and password cracking. Learners gain proficiency in using ethical hacking tools and interpreting penetration results. It reinforces a strong understanding of legal frameworks and responsible hacking practices.
This module teaches the techniques for identifying, dissecting, and understanding malicious software. Students explore static and dynamic analysis methods to assess malware behavior and its impact on systems. Learners will use real malware samples in controlled environments to build skills in detection and containment. The module also covers reverse engineering and incident response procedures.
Learners develop the ability to plan and execute security assessments using various testing tools and techniques. The module focuses on identifying vulnerabilities in systems, networks, and applications. Students gain hands-on experience with penetration testing, risk assessment, and reporting procedures. By the end, learners will be able to simulate attacks and interpret results to improve system security.
