About the Special Executive Masters Programme

The MSBM Special Executive Masters Programme is short certificate modules designed for anyone who would benefit from more in-depth business knowledge delivered in a short and intensive programme. This programme is suitable for successful professionals or specialist in the private, public or non-profit making sectors that have new management responsibilities and need to quickly expand their management knowledge.

The (SEMP) programme serves as a refresher course for those who have had their Masters a long time ago and need a quick reminder or as an academic update while it serves as a crash programme for those very experienced professionals who never made time out for their masters yet they require the academic and practical relevance of this masters’ experience. It is a good programme for individuals who are newly promoted to the managerial post, the program enables them to acclimatise to the new position as well as help them intake the right decisions.

Objectives

The objective of this course is to enable students to answer some crucial questions regarding international business and commerce, which includes, but are not limited to the following:

  • What is the applicable law for the transaction?
  • What are the responsibilities and liabilities of the parties involved?
  • Who arranges the carriage contract and who is in charge of transporting the goods from one point to another?
  • How does the buyer pay the seller?
  • What happens in the event that something goes wrong?

During the training, the delegates will see evidence to suggest that there is no such thing as the "uniform law of contract" that governs an entire commercial contract from start to finish.

Therefore, the students will consider "International Business Law" as a fragmented network of laws, with different laws governing each part of the transaction. Having this fundamental understanding will allow students to start grasping this complex subject matter with a bit more ease.

At the of the course end, the goal is for the students to be able to demonstrate a basic level of competence and knowledge for matters related to international business law.

Who should attend?

This course is suitable for those with little or no formal training in International Business Law yet would be required to understand the fundamentals of the International Business Law as it may directly impact their work.

It will particularly benefit:

  • Directors and executives who have direct responsibility for legal decisions within the Organization.
  • In-house counsel
  • Those working within a legal department will also find this course highly beneficial.
  • Managing Directors or CEOs

Modules

Our aim will NOT be to simply cram as much information as possible, but to select the essential concepts, to go over them in some depth, and to instill sufficient knowledge for the students to be able to apply these concepts in a practical manner. While the students may not become absolute experts of IBL at the end of this course, the students will possess enough foundational understanding of the subject matter, which will equip them with the ability to build further atop this foundation on their own.

With this in mind, this course will cover the following:

Day 1

Law of Business Organizations: Partnerships
Law of Business Organizations: Agency

Day 2
