Diploma in Accounting and Business Level 5 - 12 Months - 120 Credits
This diploma equips learners with in-depth knowledge of accounting principles and business functions. It prepares individuals for a broad range of financial roles across diverse industries. Emphasis is placed on strategic thinking, planning, reporting, and business decision-making. The course supports real-world business applications and fosters both analytical and managerial skills. Graduates will be able to contribute effectively to business growth and organizational sustainability.
Time Table
The programme runs from 26 October 2026 to 26 July 2027, covering six academic learning and assessment periods. Teaching includes guided lectures, practical activities, case studies, group discussions, independent study and assignment preparation. A Winter Vacation is scheduled from 21 December 2026 to 8 January 2027, followed by a Spring Vacation from 29 March to 16 April 2027. The final period focuses on assignment completion, assessment, quality assurance, academic review and confirmation of programme completion, with results processed in August 2027.
Course Details
The programme includes six core modules that cover strategic business principles, financial management, human resources, and entrepreneurship. Students will explore concepts relevant to financial planning, reporting, and operational control. The curriculum promotes the development of critical thinking, data interpretation, and strategic planning abilities. Learners are assessed through a combination of assignments, case studies, and applied projects.
Upon the completion of the diploma, the student will be able to learn the following:

Entry Requirements
For entry into Level 5 Diploma in Accounting and Business, learners must possess the following:
* Relevant/Local Board of Examination Result in your Country, which must include at least 5 'C' Grades in English and 4 other subjects.
* Mock Examination Result can also be accepted for initial Conditional Admission, pending the release of the Board of Examination Result. (This is assessed on a case by case basis)
* Learner must be 18 years or older at the start of the Course.
OR
* Mature Learners (21 years or older) with work experience in supervisory, leadership or management roles. (This is assessed on a case by case basis).
Course Modules
Principles and Concepts of Business Strategy module introduces students to the foundational principles of strategic management, focusing on the analysis, formulation, and implementation of business strategies. It explores key concepts such as competitive advantage, strategic positioning, and market analysis, enabling students to understand how organizations can achieve long-term success. Through case studies and practical examples, students will learn how to assess internal and external factors that influence strategic decision-making and how to apply these concepts in real-world business scenarios.
The Financial Management module provides students with a comprehensive understanding of financial decision-making processes within organizations. It covers key topics such as financial planning, budgeting, capital structure, investment appraisal, and risk management. Students will learn how to evaluate financial performance, make informed decisions to optimize resources, and apply financial management techniques to improve business profitability and sustainability. Through practical examples and case studies, students will develop the skills to manage financial risks and create strategies that align with business goals.
The Financial Planning and Control module focuses on the key principles and techniques involved in planning and managing an organization's financial resources. It covers budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis, helping students understand how to align financial resources with business objectives. Students will gain the skills needed to evaluate financial performance, make adjustments to achieve strategic goals, and ensure financial stability through effective planning and control mechanisms. Practical scenarios and case studies will enhance students' ability to apply these concepts to real-world business situations.
The Financial Reporting module focuses on the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards. Students will learn how to create income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, as well as understand the principles behind them, such as accrual accounting and the matching concept. The module also covers the regulatory frameworks, including IFRS and GAAP, and how these standards impact business reporting and transparency. Practical examples and case studies will equip students with the skills to assess an organization’s financial health and compliance.
The Management of Human Resources module explores key concepts and practices in effectively managing an organization’s workforce. Topics include recruitment, selection, employee development, performance management, and compensation strategies. Students will also examine the importance of creating a positive organizational culture, managing diversity, and fostering employee engagement to improve productivity and retention. Practical case studies will help students understand the challenges and best practices in aligning HR strategies with overall business goals.
