Level 4 Diploma in Law - 12 Months - 120 Credits
This Level 4 Diploma in Law introduces learners to the fundamental structures and processes of the English legal system. Students will develop critical research and academic writing skills tailored for legal contexts. Core substantive law topics—contracts, business, public, and criminal law—are examined through case studies and statutory interpretation. Emphasis is placed on analytical thinking, ethical awareness, and clear legal argumentation. Graduates will be equipped to progress into paralegal roles, further legal study, or related professions.
Course Details
Each module consists of 40 guided learning hours of material with an additional 30-50 hours worth of optional materials which comprise of recommended exercises, recommended readings and internet resources. Within the modules are self-testing exercises. You must take care in answering these. Although they are not marked nor do they count towards your final assessment, the marking is tested against your scoring on the final assessment to check for consistency of score.
The programme combines theoretical understanding with practical exercises to reinforce legal concepts. Learners complete written assignments, moot exercises, and presentations to hone communication and advocacy skills. Assessment includes essays, case analyses, and research projects aligned with professional standards. Successful completion opens pathways to advanced diplomas, undergraduate law degrees, or entry-level roles in legal services.

Entry Requirements
For entry into Level 4 Diploma in Law, learners must possess the following:
* Relevant/Local Board of Examination Result in your Country, which must include at least 5 'C' Grades in English and 4 other subjects.
* Mock Examination Result can also be accepted for initial Conditional Admission, pending the release of the Board of Examination Result. (This is assessed on a case by case basis)
* Learner must be 18 years or older at the start of the Course.
OR
* Mature Learners (21 years or older) with work experience in supervisory, leadership or management roles. (This is assessed on a case by case basis).
Course Modules
This module provides the most critical information about the study course and assignment submission.
Students develop techniques for locating legal authorities, interpreting legislation, and critically evaluating judgments. Emphasis is placed on constructing coherent, citation-accurate essays and reports.
This unit introduces company law fundamentals, including incorporation, corporate governance, and director duties. Learners assess regulatory frameworks and the legal obligations of commercial entities.
Covering offer, acceptance, consideration, and intention to create legal relations, this module investigates how binding agreements are formed and enforced. Remedies for breach and defences to performance are also studied.
This module addresses the definition of offences, actus reus and mens rea requirements, and common defences. Students review landmark cases to understand how statutes and precedents shape criminal liability.
This module examines the hierarchy of courts, the roles of key legal professionals, and the sources of law such as statutes and precedents. Learners explore how cases move through the system and the principles of judicial decision-making.
Focusing on constitutional and administrative law, learners explore separation of powers, human rights, and judicial review processes. Case analyses illustrate the scope and limits of governmental authority.
